Three ways to get unstuck

Pick whichever fits. A real person answers the email one.

Things people ask first

Where is my work saved?
In your browser, always. If you are signed in it is also saved to your account, and the Cloud panel tells you which. Clearing your browser data removes the local copy.
I opened the editor from a file and cannot sign in.
That is expected. A page opened from disk has no origin the API will accept, so sign-in is hidden and the editor stays local-only. Use the published address for anything involving your account.
Can I get my site out?
Yes, always, and it is the complete site: HTML, one stylesheet, a sitemap and robots.txt, with internal links rewritten to real filenames. Publish exports it whether you are on the free plan or not.
I edited a nav bar and it changed on every page.
Then it is a shared section, which is the point of them. The panel says how many pages an edit affects before you make it, and "give this page its own copy" in the inspector undoes the sharing for one page.
My cloud sites will not load.
Most often a paused project — free database projects sleep after about a week of no use and wake with one click. The editor keeps saving locally in the meantime, so nothing is lost.
